Bonchon now open in Tampa serving Korean Fried Chicken
The South Korea-based concept has expanded into the Gulf Coast.
TAMPA, FL - Bonchon Chicken has opened its first location in Tampa near the University of South Florida at 2320 E Fletcher Ave. It is the first location in the Tampa Bay area and part of the rapidly growing popularity of Korean Fried Chicken in Florida and the rest of the United States.
The Hallyu wave and rise of K-Pop to mainstream pop culture is fueling interest in Korean culture and food. Bonchon is joined by other Korean Fried Chicken chains in the area, including bb.q Chicken. The mission of Bonchon is "to share the joy of Koraen comfort food around the world."
The last time I tried their chicken was as a delivery order in Seoul while attending Yonsei University. Food delivery has long been popular in Korea and is convenient for locals. Hopefully these chicken chains will start to open more centralized locations to help make that easier in the Tampa Bay region.
Korean Fried Chicken is known for its double-fry chicken technique which makes it extra crispy and juicy. The new Bonchon on Fletcher has mastered that and also has other options available including bulgogi, japchae, chicken katsu, and tteokbokki.
Overall, I really enjoyed the food and service there and recommend it!
